On Sundays, in my Day One journal entry I have a section called What did I learn this week? This is about one of those entries.

Every evening my wife and I sit down and talk over the days events. We discuss news, family matters, and trip plans, etc. I always choose some music to listen to while we talk, and we play it, at least for now, over an Echo speaker. At times I wear my AirPods Pro since they now double as hearing aids for those with mild to moderate hearing loss. That’s me! The trouble is that for some unknown reason, the music switches to my AirPods Pro. And I have to switch it back to the Echo speaker. The other night it was swapping speakers every minute or so, and that did it. I had to find a solution, or not wear the AirPods Pro in the evening.

Here is the solution: While wearing your AirPods Pro go to Settings. Near the top of that screen you’ll see your AirPods Pro. Touch that. Scroll down to “Connect to This iPhone”. Click on “When Last Connected to this iPhone”. The setting causing the issue was connect Automatically. Go back to Settings. And you’re done.

I learned that setting my AirPods Pro to not connect Automatically seems to keep the Bluetooth connection between speaker and AirPods Pro from jumping back and forth. It’s in the AirPods Pro settings. A disadvantage is that the AirPods Pro do not auto-connect, so when you move from one device to another, you have to go to Settings>Bluetooth and reconnect the AirPods Pro to the new device.
