Today is a special day for my wife. And she has chosen a classy restaurant with her favorite foods – Italian.
The Walk to Gianna
Gianna wasn’t far from the hotel. Its façade is more modern than many structures in the Warehouse District. We soon arrived, once again walking from the hotel to Gianna at the corner of Magazine and Girod Streets. Gianna touts that it serves Italian food, rustic they call it, adding to it the various alimentary themes of Louisiana.

Ambiance
It was mid-afternoon when we arrived and the place wasn’t too crowded. We were seated immediately. The space is open and airy; it has a nice comfortable ambiance to it.

The Food
We ordered our drinks, along with ciabatta garlic bread appetizer, seasoned with chili butter and provolone. For lunch my wife ordered a mushroom pasta dish titled Tagliatelle Ai Funghi – brown butter, parmesan, rosemary. And I had the special of the day – Italian sausage over cheese grits with some roasted peppers. Both were delicious. We shared a side of broccolini, flavored with garlic and anchovy breadcrumbs.

In Summary
Although a very different fare than more restaurants here in New Orleans, it was to us, one of the best meals we had here. The service was attentive but well mannered, not interfering with our meal and conversation as some servers do, invariably catching us with a mouthful of food, trying to answer that, yes, the food is good.
That’s Ristorante Gianna. If you like Italian food and good service, check it out. It is open daily from 11 AM to 10 PM. The address is 700 Magazine Street.
Have you been here? If so, what did you think of the place? Leave a comment if you like. Thanks.
